I'm pretty sure I've set a new record..
Remember the Gentleman? From last post? Well. I am "A bit too much" for him.
We all knew that though, didn't we? Like, Seriously.
We've been talking, pretty much non-stop for a few weeks. Hung out, drinks etc. Cool right? No emotional attachment yet, just testing out the waters.
The other night, mid conversation - he disappears. Doesn't answer further messages. I get in touch with him the next day - Ask what happened. Apparently he was out, and didn't think he needed to respond.
Gee, Thanks.
So I tell him, its not cool. Why didn't he just say so - "Hey, at a party" or " I'm busy, have a good one" He says I'm over reacting. I was out, and we didn't have plans. So what does it matter.
I attempt to explain that its a respect thing, I feel I'm worth the 30 seconds to end the conversation, instead of leaving me hanging for something better. You can talk to me any other time, this night was different - okay cool. Fucking say so. Why be all shady about it? I value honesty over everything, lie to me - I'm out.
Dude doesn't owe me anything, go out with another chick, get wasted with your buddies. All I expect is a "Sorry - I'm out - Can we chat tomo" Instead of me waiting for a response, then again when asking if everything is okay.. Even a msg once dude got home "Sorry - got caught up, text you in the morning" does wonders. And doesn't make a girl feel like she just got passed up for the next best thing.
Like, I get it - we aren't dating or anything. Again, just hanging out - but I hold my friends to a higher standard. I definitely hold potential suitors to a higher standard than that. He feels I'm over reacting.
Maybe, to his standards, I am. But I feel it's disrespectful to just ignore someone that you've been in constant contact with. I feel that I'm worth the 30 second text message. So he tells me, I'm a "Bit too much" for him, and I've ruined his day.
I'm just batting 100 here lately. But at least I know where I stand with him.
See - if I'm not worth the 30 seconds now, I sure as fuck won't be worth it in 6 months. Or 3 years etc. So I need to make it clear how I expect to be treated in a friendship or by a potential mate. If I don't, then who's fault is it when shit doesn't work out?
He doesn't understand why I'm bothered, and pretty much thinks I'm insane. Told me I've added to his shitty day, and that he intended on ignoring me for the evening. I wished him a better day.
And, you guessed it, we don't chat anymore. T
oo bad, he was fun to hang out with, he made me laugh.
I hope one day he will find someone worth 30 seconds of his time.
