Red light. She stops on the line. A truck pulls up beside her. A stranger is talking to her.
She rolls her window down further, and turns down the radio.
"I'm sorry?" She questions
"I said.. You better not be crying over a boy.." the stranger answers.
She brings a hand to her face. She didn't realize she was crying. She wipes her eyes, looks over at the stranger. Mid 30's maybe with a 5 o'clock shadow. Ball cap. Leaf fan? Browning air freshener hanging from the rear view. F150. Muddy.
"You're far to beautiful to be crying over a boy.." he continues, "Just sayin'"
A phrase she says often. She smiles back, and thanks him.
The light turns green. She turns left. He continues straight ahead.
